Finding the simple idea in a complicated industry.

The Simple Option —
VWR Capital Corp

Too many choices can make the simplest decision feel complicated.

That was the idea behind The Simple Option, a commercial created for VWR Capital. In an industry where brokers are constantly navigating new products, changing policies, and endless lending criteria, VWR wanted to communicate a different kind of value: knowing what works and making the process feel easy.

So instead of putting a mortgage broker behind a desk, we put him in a restaurant.

The first restaurant is anything but simple. A waitress rattles off specials, promotions, menu options, and everything else he could possibly order. The information keeps coming until the broker is completely overwhelmed. Then, we cut to a second restaurant. It's calm. It's modern. There's no pitch, no laundry list, and no confusion. When the broker asks for the classic, the answer is simply, “Already on its way.”

The joke is simple, but the comparison is intentional. VWR isn't about giving brokers more to sort through. It's about giving them an option they know they can come back to.

We leaned into the contrast throughout the production. The first half moves quickly and feels increasingly chaotic, while the second feels composed and effortless. The restaurants become two different worlds, allowing the audience to understand the message before it's ever explained.

Rather than making another commercial about mortgages, we made a commercial about decision-making. Something familiar, funny, and easy to understand that gives VWR a distinct personality in a traditionally technical category.

Sometimes the best option is the one that doesn't make you think twice.

At Novel, we like finding the unexpected story inside a straightforward business message. Because when the idea is simple, the audience doesn't need to be sold on it. They just get it.
